will need to tell me points of two opposing sides of some issue that they faced, and

then explain what ideas the resolution compromise included.

Answer: The founding fathers had a difficult time in ensuring that all races and fractions of people in New America got a piece of the promises in the New Constitution. There were some major compromises that came with the Constitutional Convention especially it involved the small states and large states. The disagreement was that the small states demanded that each of their state to have the same number of representatives in Congress but for the bigger states, they wanted representation based on population which means that higher population, larger representation. In this compromise, it took long more than 200 years inorder to havea resolution about representation. The Founding Fathers, who are considered the  framers of the Constitution, had the aim of forming a government where there is equality and it restricts a person, system or institution and person having too much authority and control. The founding fathers learned from the rule of the British king that having a bad political system can affect governing thr whole country. After  the Revolutionary War, it is important to note that the found they had to look future. The founding fathers also agreed that they would  want liberty, which was one of the compromise  did not all agree on the way forward. They disagreed about the governing of the country, and the appropriate role of government would play, like the governmental structure in relation to bringing a balance liberty with order. The  Great Compromise / Connecticut Compromise, is one of the compromises that was brought up during the Constitutional Convention. The impact of this compromise led to the creation of the  two-house legislature, with the Senate which have equal representation for all states and the House of Representatives would also have a representation proportional to state populations. An example is the

Massachusetts Anti-Federalists who were against the founding fathers vision as they opposed the Three-Fifths Compromise. The main problem was the ratification of the United States Constitution where both sides had different views of the subject leading to intense debate during the 1787 and 1789. Finally, the founders faced alot of disagreement and  engaged in disputes about their ranks and about their opposing parties. Other issues was the contention like how much states rights would be given, and also  the socioeconomic structure, and American foreign policy.

  • Explain (1) our system of checks and balances and (2) the separation of powers and,

briefly, how each of these work. Note that these are two different, though related,

things and so each should be explained and separately defined.

Answer: An example is the House of Representatives which has the power of impeachment, but on the other hand, the Senate has all power when it come to  impeachment. I strongly contend that the system of checks and balances is vital in the US Constitution as it allows the involved institutions and fraction of the government to have  checks and balances, where each of the three branches of government have limited form of powers of the others. It would ensure that no one branch becomes too powerful for example in matters about impeachment where the power of the other branches of House of Representatives and the Senate in order to make sure that the power is balanced between them. In this scenario, Senate and the House of representative have balanced power over Executive which ensure fairness in use of its power where the House of Representatives has the power to bringing an impeachment charges against the President but  the Senate has the power when it comes to conviction and removal of the President from office.

  • Tell me something about each branch of the federal (national level) government.

For example, what are the powers of the presidency (and the other branches)? How isthe president’s power limited? What about the power of the other two

branches (national level)? How is each limited by the otherbranches? How long are

theirterms in office (each branch, national level)?

Answer: in the U.S. Federal Government is consists  of three  main branches which are legislative, executive and judicial. For the Legislative is has the task of making the laws as it consists of the Congress, who are comprising the House of Representatives and Senate. The other branch is the Executive as they have main role of carrying out laws for example the  president, vice president, and the Cabinet are within this section also the federal agencies. The third branch is the Judicial who have role of evaluating the laws of the land and they comprise of the Supreme Court and other different courts.

Moreover, the President who is  in the executive branch have veto powers to make a law, on thr other hand, the legislative branch can limit president by overriding that veto with the majority votes. It is imperative to understand that the legislative branch has  the power to approve Presidential nomination

s, and also can control the budget. The president is further limited where the  impeachment motion can be filed agents him. The President can get removed from office by other branches of government. The fact is the Constitution explicitly has power to assigns the president the power to sign or veto legislation, as well as commanding the armed forces. The Congress who are the Senate—There are two elected Senators per state, total of 100 Senators. For the Senate term is usually  six years and there is no limit to the number of terms a person can serve. For the US president is elected indirectly through the United States Electoral College to a four-year term, which is a term limit of two terms.

  • What is federalism? How does it relate to the ‘separation of powers’ concept?Answer: Federalism is defined as the system of government in the US share a particular territory gets controlled by two levels of government. This system means that the national government and

other political subdivisions have the stake of power in making laws and regulations. They also have a certain level of autonomy from each other which suggests having separate powers .Federalism has the demerit of limiting the government by the creation of two sovereign powers which mainly are ; the national government and state government. This restriction has the implication whereby it restrains  the influence of both. on the other hand, separation of powers has the purpsoe of imposing the internal limits by dividing the power of the national government and  against itself, hence it leads to giving various  branches of the government separate functions and making sure they keep each other in check. The separation of

power forces the arms of government  to share power. The US Constitution through the separation of powers enabled the   established three branches of federal government;  legislative, executive, and the judicial to control their affairs and well as  coordination with each other. In the each branch have their boundaries, functions and responsibilities that do not interfere with each other. The federalist group were in favor of the new federal Constitution whereby they argued that the separation of powers and checks and balances system created through the new Constitution was more beneficial to the American people as it protected them as well as their welfare. The opposition from the  Anti- Federalists had similar views on the problem of the executive branch having too much power that influenced other gover nment branches and agencies.
