The Christian view concerning the nature of human beings is that man was created in the likeness of God, and the human being is unique. The bible focuses on the need to value and also respect human life since it comes from God. Christianity also focuses on the fact that human beings have free will and can make their own choices and decisions. Human beings have a conscious choice to live and act morally (Megan Best, 2018). This is compatible with the theory of virtue ethics, which focuses on the belief that right and wrong are characterized following the traditional virtues that make a person termed “good.” This can be linked to intrinsic human value because of the common ground that human beings deserve dignity simply because they are human beings and should be valued because of this. The human being has an underlying worth that needs to be valued at all times. This is focused on the fact that every human being has value, whether they can bring any direct benefit. Ethically it is important to treat every human being with the worth they deserve, regardless of whether they can play a beneficial role.
These individuals have used different theories in this particular scenario. Dr. Wilson uses the deontology theory in his decision-making, which is based on the fact that people need to adhere to their obligations and duties, especially when they are engaged in decision-making. Dr. Wilson follows his obligations as a doctor in upholding his duty to do what is ethically correct. Dr. Wilson sticks to his position and tells Marco that he will have to tell Jessica the news to make an informed decision concerning the next step of action in this scenario (Lee,2015). Aunt Maria follows the justice theory, which focuses on the fact that decision-makers need to focus on appropriate actions to those involved. She urges Jessica to consider her responsibility as a mother and do what is fair to the child. Aunt Maria understands that man is created in the image of God, and this cannot be reduced to rationality. Her viewpoint of justice is based on the fact that every human being deserves an equal opportunity, despite their shortcomings. Marco and Jessica are torn between different options, especially because they are in a dilemma between the best solution between considering their socioeconomic position and the biblical viewpoint concerning the sanctity of human life (Lee, 2015). They weigh options of the biblical perspective, which is based on the uniqueness of life and the reverence of the life of a human being. On the other hand, they are also looking at the utilitarian perspective, which is focused on which action would be the greater good for most people. They understand the medical implications of the choice they are to make and the fact that the child would not be guaranteed good quality of life if they decided to keep it.

His viewpoint largely impacts Dr. Wilson’s decision-making process and actions to do what is morally right. Aunt Maria follows the justice theory, which plays a major role in her decision. She believes that all individuals should be treated equally whether or not they have the capacity to make decisions for themselves (Stahl & Kilner,2017). She believes that it is morally right to allow the unborn baby to live since no one knows what the future holds. Aunt Maria follows the biblical and Christian perspective to this issue and focuses on the value of life from a Christian perspective. She understands the necessity of valuing the fetus’s life since it does not have the opportunity to make independent decisions for itself.

I agree with the deontology* theory in this scenario, and this is because an action can be deemed as wrong or right depending on the uniqueness of the particular scenario. Furthermore, the moral basis of a particular action is based on the use of ethics, and it would be logical to make a decision that is best suited for this scenario. Furthermore, deontology would be opposed to judging anyone involved based on the action or the failure to perform a certain action. In this scenario, it is important to consider what decision fits the particular scenario (Mitchell,2014). Deontology is suitable because it recognizes that every individual possesses autonomy in decision-making, and it is necessary to make decisions based on what would be right for the scenario. Deontology will play a major role in determining moral actions because it understands that some acts are obligatory based on the possible consequences of doing or not doing the particular action. The outcomes and consequences may not justify the means to achieve the goals intended. The application of deontology would lead to the realization of an impartial approach to issues (Mitchell,2014). Dr. Wilson brings out the viewpoint that it is necessary to place the issue at hand on the table. In the scenario given, Jessica’s fetus has developed complications, and the doctor believes that it is important to discuss the consequences based on the scenario and possible outcomes. From this, then the family can discuss the best choice according to their scenario and then take the necessary steps based on this.
