Music Concert Report
On March 8th 2021, I attended a virtual concert event that was happening on the YouTube channels of the musician Zara Larsson to celebrate international women’s day. The performance comprised of different songs depicted to all women across the world. The songs expressed enthusiasm, praise and applause from the viewers. The release of her album a few days earlier was an inspiration for the day. The album by the name Poster Girl describes a pop star in splendor. The music is in the borderland between modern R&B, pop, and vibrant dancefloor melodramas. The album creates a picture of the musician while Zara also coincides with the uniform expression of the song. She is a talented vocal musician.
During her live concert, the performance of the song Symphony, as the name itself states, when sung, hits the highest note and then a piano mix that comes along with Zara’s vocals. The song is a kinda metaphor to my world because the opening melody is doubled. To orchestral music, it is one of the best contributions because it utilized the musical right instruments to address the audience. In the song, the first thing you hear on the synth is a melody that is made up of two voices in a similar rhythm or pairs of notes that move together harmoniously. The introduction of the melody with different instruments such as the violin and homophony were heard from the full orchestra (Auslander, 2021). The repetition of the melody using different instruments like the piano showed dynamism and tempo in the song. The high point reached by a violin when a high-pitched piano slowed down to a static pace, indicating the ability of the musician to effectively use the musical instrument (Hansen, 2020).
The artist’s perspective on performing a live concert on an online platform is to create that feeling of empowering women and making them feel important because she was also launching an album with related information. According to the songs, she passed the message that the audience especially women needed empowerment and encouragement that could keep them conquering obstacles in life. The audience is an important aspect when doing a live performance because they encourage one to give the best performance and make the right choice depending on the theme of the song. The audience also experienced different ways in which the music produced was unique and carried the necessary information as of women’s day and also expressed talent and creativity from the artist (Auslander, 2021).
The music event was meant to join women in celebrating their international day in a period where people cannot attend live concerts to enjoy company and music because of the prevailing pandemic. Musicians opt to adopt the online platforms which they use to reach out to the audience, encourage them and entertain them with sweet music accompanied by instruments. Culturally, the live concert purpose is to bring women together, share ideas, applaud, and praise one of their own through music. It is a form of support that the musician seeks by specifically doing a live event on a particular day. Educating and entertaining is done through such platforms because it is a new normal that people cannot meet or attend street concerts where we can interact physically with one another. It is also a way of seeking support from the audience because as an artist or musician, the audience will be required to buy tickets that will enable them to have access to the live event (Hansen, 2020).
In conclusion, I can admit that the use of the online platform has proved that the numerical arrangement made the masterpiece rich. The enthusiasm showed by the violinist and pianists in the performance supported by the facial expressions made it easy to spell out the mood of the event. The concert was full of life because the instruments worked in harmony with others neither too soft, nor too loud. It was just the best mix that made the performance intriguing.
