Diversity, equity, and inclusion are important aspects of society. The social aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion ensure that people live together in harmony and respecting one another. When individuals live in a world of abuse and control, they quickly learn to be cautious about what they say and avoid, causing unrest that could lead to violence. The behavior theory explains the stimulus and response behavior. Interactions with the world are the source of all learned habits. Positive behavior is praised, whereas negative behavior is punished. According to the functionalism theory, societal issues undermine a society’s stability. For a strong society, social stability is needed. Keeping social order means avoiding circumstances or events that could lead to unrest (Tierney 2014). It may be difficult to break away from such a relationship since the victim is often bound emotionally and by threats and other responsibilities. The speaker identifies certain life events such as recruiting the poem in front of the United States president as an opening to liberating herself from the social problem.
