There was no clear coordination between the soldiers in the field and the artillery troops as the attacks were complicated. The soldiers lacked maneuvering capabilities, and the soldiers were concentrated together in the field instead of different places increased the risk of being attacked by enemies. All these weaknesses were a result of the poor management of the British army.
The troops lacked military intelligence. The army did not carry reconnaissance before going to war with their counterparts. The soldiers had no idea about the terrain of the land. The poor intelligence led to poor artillery control and maneuvering of the troops. The British also choose incompetent commanders to command the troops. Most of these commanders were inexperienced in war. Britain also used soldiers from other countries who had no military education hence leading to heavy casualties.
In conclusion, the poor leadership led to heavy casualties during the war. The army commanders never supervised the soldier’s fitness. The British lost due to their overconfidence that no enemy could defeat them due to the advanced weapons they developed. Lastly, in every organization effective managerial skills are paramount.
